In recent times getting a good quality TIG or Stick welding machine which is affordable has become a dying breed.
Finding one that is cheap and reliable was no easy task. Took me days of digging on the internet before I stumbled upon this bad boy.
AHP Alphatig 200x can not only handle TIG but also Stick welding, and you don’t have to be broke for a month buying this. Sounds unreal, right?

Features at a Glance of AHP Alphatig 200x
Before I move to the depth of the product’s key features, let me give you a quick overview. The company which is responsible for the machines manufacture is AHP, and the model number is AlphaTIG 200x.
Do keep in mind that this is a machine under a thousand dollars and due to that the manufacturer had let some high-end features slide.
Reliability was not an issue so far. I have been using this almost every day for the last three months for an extended period and didn’t find any problems so far.
At the top left corner of the machine, there is an amperage meter which will show the amperage reading before and after firing the machine up. This can be really useful information to many while not being useful to some.
Buttons and switches provide almost everything that you need to control while TIG or Stick welding. This is something which I found convenient while using The AHP AlphaTIG 200X.
If you are a welder by hobby, this machine will be just fine for your use. Given that you are an expert welder, TIG welding and Stick welding aluminum & Stainless Steel should go smoothly.
The machine comes with 14 feet long WP17TIG Torch and 9 feet long Stick holder and Ground Clamp. Overwhelming, isn’t it?
One of the best features on AHP Alphatig 200 is that it comes with inverter technology, and the best part, it is not an ordinate one.
Advanced inverter technology is used by AHP Alphatig 200 which comes with a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). This was achieved using IGBT technology by the company. Many high-end TIG welders don’t even have this feature.
140A and 200A can be obtained using 120V and 240V respectively. Other features include an Argon Regulator, Foot Pedal, 2T by 4T function, adjustable amps in 4T mode and HF start Tig.
Key Partaking Features
Let me tell you about the features which I liked the most while I was using this machine. Will discuss those features below!
As you take The AHP AlphaTIG 200X out of the box, you will be surprised to see how many switches and buttons this thing have. The best part is each switch/button is labeled so nicely that you will know straight away after looking at them, what they are there for.
The number of switches can be overwhelming to some, but once you realize what they are for, you will question yourself, “How did they manage all those features in this price point?”
The name will suggest you that it is a TIG welder, but as you have read in the article, it can also Stick weld just fine. The result of a stick weld can come out excellent with the arc being smooth with a minimum amount of spatter if you are good at it.
This is always a nice feature to have in any welding machine but seeing the feature at this price range was just amazing. Dual Voltage allows the AHP AlphaTIG 200X to run at either 110v or 220v.
For this feature, you can rest assured and weld anywhere even if you don’t have a generator at that area. If you are concerned about the quality of weld when AlphaTIG 200X is on 110v, let me assure you this there is nothing to worry about.
I have used the device on 110v several times, and it performs as good as when it is being used on 220v despite getting less power.
Easy to Move
Carrying the AlphaTIG 200X is pretty easy as this machine weighs around 50lbs which is not that heavy compared to others. This is a selling point for many as some welders have to always move from one place to the other.
It’s under a thousand dollars and it can almost do all the things that a high-end TIG machine can. The quality of welds is not that far behind compared to the more expensive models.
Many of us have a misconception about one thing, if it’s expensive, it must be good, but AHP AlphaTIG 200X will prove you wrong here. AHP is a new company which is trying to get into the welding market.
Which is why it is trying its best to assure great quality product at a lower price, us being buyers should use this opportunity while the cost is still low.
Frequently Asked Questions
This is some frequent question that I dealt with while I was trying to get people to see the machine’s potential. Below I decided to share them with you.
What is the Duty Cycle?
Low amperage should give a higher reading, but the standard reading for the machine is sixty percent of 200amps.
Does the machine has a pulse?
Surprising at this price point, but yes it does.
Where to find replacement TIG torch set?
Just drop by the nearest distributor of AHP and if you don’t have one nearby then order one from online.
If the torch head flexible?
Yes, it is. This should make your work a lot easier.
How bad is the customer service?
Haven’t dealt with customer service personally but from what I have heard it was not horrible but compared to other giants in the field, the service is significantly slower.
This is a reliable machine for which I am confident. Majority of the people buying the product won’t have to go through customer care process at all.
Worth the Money?
Overall, I found AHP AlphaTIG 200X to be a great machine at the price range, and it is the best AC/DC TIG welder out there.
If you ask me about buying it, I would say HELL YEAH. You are going to get a lot more than you are paying for, mate.
